First of all WOW! LOVE IT!! All in all, AMAZING WORK, THANK YOU!!
… we haven’t worked with such a professional, quick and un-fussy designer before, so we really do mean it!
Deep in the heart of Laikipia, one of Kenya’s most spectacular game viewing areas, stands the perfectly restored colonial era Mukima House. Twin gables, cedar framed windows and large sweeping verandahs overlook the rolling lawns towards the private dam. In the distance we can see the snow capped peaks of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain. Mukima provide luxury hospitality and accommodation for their guests, who consist of families and groups. This is an excellent safari base but equally the facilities are perfect for parties, business retreats or weddings; a gorgeous backdrop for any wedding album. When customers book an event or stay at Mukima House they will be met with originality, style, quality and plenty of opportunity for exploration and relaxation.
Mukima wished to have a new website because they do not feel that their existing site fully reflects the house and it’s qualities, they felt that it was badly in need of updating. The location has a lot to offer and the purpose of the new website is to attract new clients and to tempt previous visitors to return. Above all, Leslie wanted to make much more use of their stunning photographs.
The new website definitely reflects the beautiful house and its qualities. Full screen background images create a showcase for the photographs and engage the visitor as soon as they arrive on the site. The only thing that stayed from the old website was the logo!
Cream, beige and safari green colour blocks throughout the design reflect the safari environment. I created a background image for the footer, another opportunity to set the scene. Large rotating image galleries make sure every photo is inlcuded in the site and work hard to showcase every corner of the property.
I designed the blog overview page in an attractive grid format, with an image and brief text that link to the full blog post. Customised social media sharing buttons in safari green keep in with the theme. The main font is Open Sans, modern and easy to read and I used Georgia for the titles, a more traditional font – the two work well together.
