Eda Frandsen specialise in traditional sailing holidays combining the simplicity and beauty of a bygone era with today’s modern comforts. It is the blend of grace, character and seaworthiness that makes this boat unique. Eda Frandsen is a 56′ gaff cutter built in Denmark in 1938, she started her life fishing for lobsters.
Eda already had a website that was being hosted on the WordPress.com blogging platform. They wanted a custom website design and build to showcase their beautiful boat and the fabulous holiday experiences they offer. James wanted to attract a younger clientele, currently the average customer age is 50. The existing site did not reflect the quality of the boat or the sailing holiday experience.
I used full screen background images to showcase the whole experience of sailing on Eda and to reflect the quality of the boat. I created an image of the Carrick Hitch knot to be used throughout the site and give the maritime feel. Customised social media buttons blend in with the design. The navigation makes everything easy to find within the site and the gallery page incorporates a large image gallery and videos. The existing content was easily migrated from WordPress.com to a WordPress self-hosted website.
Thanks to Melissa and James for being great to work with and for providing the fabulous images for a beautiful project that I really enjoyed.
