About
Truro Choral Society was established in 1962 as the Truro Singers. It is now one of the largest choral societies in Cornwall, with a current membership of over 150. They perform major choral works, as well as more contemporary pieces, including premieres.
The Challenge
The existing website is very old and my main contact, Sam, said it had served a good purpose but now needed updating. The new website design purpose is to promote the choir performances to the public, provide an information source for members and attract new members. It is also to provide an easy to use content management system.
The Solution
The new website acts as an information hub. Visitors can come here, read the latest news, view and book upcoming concerts and join as a member. It’s a WordPress design so the website is easy for Sam to update and manage and photos resize automatically to fit the spaces. Members can login and see private information that is not available to the public.
I designed images of the composers for the main home page slider, the composer blends into the background and the text is overlaid. Sam had created some marketing material with a pale green background. I thought this was a great calm colour for the web design and I used it throughout. I used a soft red for titles and links just to create a little contrast. Social media buttons and icon images are customised to match. The body font is the modern Helvetica with the more traditional Georgia serif font used for the titles.
