No8 is a boutique home and fashion store situated in the stunning market town of Aubeterre sur Dronne in the French region of Charente. From regularly updated fashions and jewellery, to style classics and signature home wares, No.8 boutique successfully combines local French charm with unique pieces from around the world.
It is with a little indulgence that this is still in my portfolio as the website is no longer active. The original owners sold the store and the new owners decided not to maintain the website but it was one of my very favourite web designs and I still like to see it.
This is a complete web design for a boutique fashion store. The client wished to have a French theme with a clean canvas to display their products. They needed to edit the content and upload new images as required.
The website is a custom WordPress design, a platform to enable the client the level of editing that they require. The design includes a subtle ‘French ticking’ fabric background to give it the French feel. Thumbnail galleries show off the products perfectly enabling visitors to select what they wish to view. The whole site is in both French and English, when first arriving at the website the visitor is requested to choose the language version to suit. There is also a stunning blog to show off latest designs and news.
I created the images and graphics in Photoshop. The French ticking background was created by scanning in a real piece of fabric and converting it to a Photoshop pattern. The effects on the title backgrounds give the effect of a piece of fabric being stitched to the page.
The client had employed a professional model and photographer, so of course the photos are lovely. With WordPress it’s easy to update text and images as required.
