About
Salamander Voyages bring their unique blend of western business culture and a thoroughly local cultural experience on both their own stunning gulet in Turkey, their partners’ gulets in Montenegro and now their newest addition of a classic sailing yacht in Croatia.
Salamander are passionate about providing the perfect holiday for each of their guests. This means all packages are highly inclusive and fully customisable to meet your wishes. The crew are handpicked for their skills and charm, and, with your own personal chef on board, you will receive 5-star food as well as carefully chosen local beers, wines and soft drinks.
The Challenge
Salamander Voyages are looking for a website that is very easy to navigate with a simple, effective but slick feel. Simple/classic colours of dark blue, grey and white.
Visitors should be engaged on the home page with amazing images. It is important that the site is easy to navigate as most of the current clientele consist of the older generation. Salamander also want to attract some younger clients aged 30/35 and over through the new design.
The website design should not be too corporate. The information pages will contain more text but the home page will be a lot less wordy and more focussed on images and calls to action.
Some specifics are required including animation when the visitor hovers over images, plus interactive maps for the itineraries.
The Solution
This is the definition of a showcase! Beautiful images sell this exclusive private gulet and yacht charter business from the outset. The visitors are engaged from the minute they land on the website and want to continue through the site, following the simple navigation, to find out what a fantastic sailing holiday will mean for them.
Beautiful animated borders appear when your mouse hovers over image links; plus photographs have an opacity overlay fading in and out to make the text easier to read. A few lovely touches like hand drawn graphics and circular images give the website a unique feel.
Itinerary pages contain interactive Google maps with markers, each with a photograph and information about a particular location.
The website is certainly not corporate and larger blocks of text have been very nicely punctuated with photographs. The website design blends beautifully with the new branding, shades of blue and grey as originally requested. The font of the logo, Didot, is used again throughout in all of the page and section headers. The body font is Proxima, easy on the eye and a great fit with the header font. Buttons and social media links follow the brand guidelines and the Salamander logo is used in many places throughout the design.
This website should certainly appeal to the existing market and new younger target market. Clear calls to action ensure that the visitor gets in touch to book their fabulous holiday.
A beautiful website to design and build. The Salamander team were a real pleasure to work with.
